We were at Sevenagama for two nights and it was one of those satisfying holiday experiences you could have. The location was great, only the sound of cricket even during day and at night an occasional cracker to chase an elephant who probably invaded a paddy field near by. The staff were very friendly and cordial, the food simple yet satisfying. Some of us drove to the Minneriya park near by to see the elephant. About a hour away is the Avukana Buddha Statue.

The swimming pool was inviting. Peacock in abundance. The nights and mornings were so cool and so quiet. Afternoons are hot and humid and I preferred to stay in door with AC comfort. At night you don’t want to move from the cozy chairs outside by the garden with the soft wind blowing through the open living area. Thank you to everyone who made it so wonderful for us.

Sevanagama Habarana is just a wonderful, wonderful place! We stayed here at the beginning of our holiday and no hotel on the rest of our trip beat this one. Not even the luxury ones. There is something very special, very personal about Sevanagama. Every little detail is cared for and carefully thought through, nothing is too much, nothing too little. You can really feel the love and care that has been put into this place.

The rooms are big and perfectly furnished with just what you need – a big comfy bed, air con, wardrobe and desk. Bathrooms are lovely and modern. The common area is a great place to sit and read – that is when you’re not being served delicious meals by the wonderful staff. The food we had here was some of the best we had in our two weeks in Sri Lanka. And every dish and cup of tea is served with such a big smile from the staff that you just can’t help but be happy!

The garden has recently been landscaped, so some of the plants and trees are still in the early stages, but no doubt in a few years, this garden will be beautiful and lush. The pool was a nice cool off after a long day in the heat. And as a bonus, we were met by a huge beautiful peacock just outside our door every morning. Nature is literally RIGHT on your doorstep. I can only recommend Sevanagama to anyone who wants to explore the cultural triangle. Sigiriya is only a 30 minute tuktuk ride away, as is the wild elephant safari. I also want to give a warm thank you to Sanjeeva, the owner, and his family for all the advice they gave us for the rest of our trip. It would not have been the same experience had we not met you. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Sri Lanka!
